Period of Covid-19 has brought our school building in our laptops and mobile phones. In this era of digitization everything is just a single click away.
If technological development has proved to be a blessing then it has also pushed human beings into its dark side. We are now almost completely dependent on internet, mobile phones and computers. There is hardly anything for which there is no App is developed.
But this dependence of ours is also creating chaos day by days. Daily one or two news in the newspapers, we see it is of 'Cyber Crime'. Knowingly or unknowingly people of all age group fall in prey of cyber criminals. This cybercrime is so designed that in fact educated and aware people are not left to fall in prey of cybercrime. Thus, the need for spreading awareness for cybercrimes and to get the way to come out of it is in our blog.

"What is cyber crime" -
In simple words, Cyber crime are criminal activities or offences done with the aid of computer systems, its instruments or the internet. Cybercrime may also damage a persons' protection and monetary health.
Where can one file cybercrime complain?
The cybercrime complaints can be registered on National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in) which is the initiative of the Government of India to facilitate the nation-wide cybercrime complaints and to make it feasible for the victims/complainants to have access to the cybercrime cells and to all the information related to cybercrimes at their fingertips.
Which type of cybercrimes I can register at the portal?
There are alternatives for reporting cybercrimes at the portal:
Report Crime associated with Women/ Child – Under this section, you could register your complaints concerning on-line Child Pornography (CP), Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or sexually specific content material inclusive of Rape/Gang Rape (CP/RGR) content material.
Report Other Cybercrimes – Under this option, you could register complaints concerning cybercrimes inclusive of cell crimes, on-line and social media crimes, on-line economic frauds, ransom ware, hacking, crypto currency crimes and on-line cyber trafficking.
How can I file the complaints about other cybercrimes?
You are required to register yourself using your name and valid Indian mobile number. You will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on your mobile number. The OTP remains valid for 30 minutes only. Once you successfully register your mobile number on the portal, you will be able to report the complaint by selecting appropriate category and sub- category.
Under this section, fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory. It is important that the police authorities receive accurate and complete information related to the complaint. Therefore, you should provide required information such as your name, phone number, email address, details of the complaint and necessary information supporting the complaint.
